and always remember to sign up for the airline’s frequent flyer program! even if it’s not your usual airline because there are a few sites out there like points.com where you can buy sell and trade miles with other members!

• Want to earn FREE miles for a couple minutes of your time? sign up for e-miles and start earning FREE miles! Take advantage of special offers and earn even more miles or simply answer a few survey questions (not more than 10 multiple choice) and earn 5+ points that way, depending on the offer. Once you’ve earned 500 points you can deposit those points into your favorite frequent flier mileage program! I signed up for e-miles in February and by the end of April I surveyed my way to 500 FREE miles! The more offers you accept the faster you’ll earn miles, but hey 4 months to get 500 miles and not spending a dime- totally worth it!!

I’ve talked a little bit about the value in signing up with the airlines’ frequent flyer programs. This deal from Delta is a great way to rack up those miles without flying! New members who join the Skymiles Dining program can earn up to 1500 miles just for spending $50 in the first 3 months of membership at any of the restaurants listed with the program. Depending on the restaurant every $ is worth 1-5 miles. Not too shabby, and definitely a quick way to start earning miles at your favorite restaurants. it’s really all about getting your $’s worth. other airlines have similar programs and they’re all run by the same company called rewards network- so that means you can’t have the same credit card enrolled in different programs. you can’t have say, your amex enrolled with Delta and also have that same Amex enrolled in American Airlines‘ program. So be sure to pick either one program or use a different card for each program.
